12 year-old twins, Liel and Yanai – you can see from their photos: they were great kids! They were excellent young people: who had gentleness, humour, intelligence, they had love within and were obviously deeply loved.

Liel was very much afraid, I read, as the invasion and massacre of 7/10 unfolded in southern Israel. She had reason to be.

When I was told that a work I had written for clarinet and flute was chosen to be performed at the London New Winds Festival 2024, I realised that it was perfect to represent the closeness between these two twins as they navigated their short lives from babyhood to the age of 12. I therefore renamed the piece and have dedicated it to their blessed memory. They lit up the world with the beauty of their natures during the short time they were on this earth.
